Album Notes
The Vacation blends lush organic sounds with the deep electronic grooves that made them famous.
What the Press are saying:
Electronic music can be fun, and if you don't think so you're not paying attention. Take for example a duo from Minneapolis named Estate. The title The Vacation may be a slight indication as to the vibe of the album. It's serious music, or at least it was done seriously, but should be listened to in a carefree manner. If it sounds good, great. If it makes you move, even better. If it makes you sing, be joyful and triumphant. They do this by creating music with pop sensibilities, but with the kind of creativity and thought that can only come from those who have an understanding for their craft. They call it a unique hybrid of Outkast meets Brian Eno, and you will hear it with the falsetto vocals and ambient synths reminiscent of electronic music from the 1970's. But you may also hear hints of LCD Soundsystem, Daft Punk, Bell & James, The S.O.S. Band, The Chemical Brothers, and Fatboy Slim.
One of my favorite tracks on the album is the disco-flavored "Get U Through", and for me it brings me back to a time when life was carefree and there were no self-obsessed issues of coping. In fact, that's what the dance floor is about, to let go of the day and shake your ass for the funk of it. Good electronic music like this has not been a part of the mainstream in quite awhile, and Estate are just the group who deserve to be in the forefront of the new era. It sounds as if they want to bring you in to the music, and if so, there's going to be a mighty mighty big party when they get to your vicinity. - musicforamerica.org
