Former Mothers Of Invention keyboardist Don Preston's more classically slanted pieces make their mark on Works. Highly melodic at times and completely experimental at others, Preston's compositions challenge and reward the listener. Solo piano pieces, electronic works, film soundtrack excerpts and The Bride Stripped Bare performed live by The California EAR Unit are all on display. The most striking track is the 1965 recording Found, an early 4-track composition with Bunk Gardner on flute. No need to describe Don's Homage To F.Z. - it speaks for itself!
