Artist's Bio
André Karlsson & Tony Freij decided to form X(Melon) from the remains of the Alternative Metal band Honey Hush. They had played together since winter 1996, so they both knew what they wanted with their music. Without any other band members they decided to lock themselves up in a rehearsal-studio and start over from scratch. They had a small idea of how the music should sound based on a few songs that didn't fit in the Honey Hush concept. With these songs they started to feel the unknown territory of Alternative Pop / Rock music.
After a few weeks X(Melon) had enough material to choose from to record their first demo-CD. Having contacted some people that they had worked with from time to time, they were able to rehearse the music. They recorded four songs, and reported that it felt awesome to listen to the music in different environments far away from the little crypt where they worked and carved them in.
By this time X(Melon) had made six Demo-CD's, with various numbers of songs & artists. Since the beginning, they have worked hard to make their stuff sound like it is suppose to, but to date, it’s still not close enough. “Then again we hope that we'll never find out how the songs should really sound like. When we do, it will not be fun anymore, because then we have forgotten how to develop our music and ourselves” said X(Melon).
In December 2003 X(Melon) decided that it was time to make a real CD. With the newly started record label Cabriolet Records they took the giant leap into the music business and made one of their dreams come true. The single ‘Pure’ was released in February 2004. The single came to the attention of Australian Indi label, Smashed Records. Smashed liked the single so much they signed a licensing agreement with X(Melon) to release an EP in Australia which is due to be completed in early 2005.
Based in Helsingborg Sweden, X(Melon) are actively playing at rock clubs around Sweden, both as the headline band and as a support band.
