Focusing on melody, emotion and stark vocals, Lydia has become one of the most interesting bands in Europe, with their most interesting album 'Gloria Can't Dance' is swift, cutting and gentle all at once.
What critics are saying....
High in commercial potential, 'Gloria Can't Dance' is crisply produced and beautifully played. Lydia's approach here is neither hard rockin' nor pure poppin'; there's a superb juggling of sensual and gutsy vocals that works extremely well. 'Gloria Can't Dance' has a power pop/ballad feel - big soaring arrangements set against impressive emo voices that compliment each other superbly. Instrumentally these babes sit tightly in a balanced groove that supports the vocals with solidity. / Peter J Brown aka toxic pete (www.toxicpete.co.uk)
6 human group debuts album which possesses the Swedish keyboard. The neutral sexy voice of Henka which is sung while it is feeling, to emotional as for emotion band sound very the dynamic! The music which is not restricted by category from the fan of MISSION and HIM etc., to the person who likes the system of U2, MUSE, SUEDE and today, may catch the heart of many listeners. Recommendation! /Cd gold japan
The album "Gloria can't dance" brings the work and musicmanship of Lydia. The concept of the album drives the listener through moments of love, sadness and hurt, themes whose message is delivered in the music and lyrics. The track "1978" is an example of the beautiful music Lydia can compose while "My angel" shows the singing potential and layering of voices. This promising debut album should be a stepping stone for Lydia to become a well established band.

The five guys that would form Lydia all grew up in the same sleepy little town in Sweden, listening to bands like Motley Crüe, Guns n’ Rovses and Poison. After playing together in several Swedish hard rock bands during the 90’s, Henka, Adda, Per and DB formed the old-school rock band The New Breed and played together with Swedish bands such as Mando Diao, Hellacopters and Kent.
Late in 2002, the band decided to take things in a new direction. Gone were the fast hard-rock tracks that up till then had been their signature. Instead they created songs with more emotion and color, taking a more diverse approach to the rock and pop genres.
Early in 2003, their old friend Jonsson became the band’s new drummer. Per took the bass.
The new Swedish pop/rock band Lydia was born.
With a focus on melodic tunes, emotional lyrics and the fantastic voice of Henka, the band’s music turns out to be a balanced mix between melodic pop and arena hard rock.
In 2005, Lydia released their debut album Gloria Can’t Dance on the label NZW Records. The album received great reviews and took the band to a position as one of the most interesting Swedish bands of modern pop.
