Since their inception in 1990, Japanese metal act SIGH have continued to push boundaries with each and every release, triumphantly persevering to create albums that stand the test of time while at the same time dazzling their fans worldwide as their musical journey moves forward.

Often labeled as a black metal band, SIGH’s music has been/and continues to be inspired by varied styles such as black metal, 80s thrash heavy metal, classical music, jazz, 60s/70s rock, Indian traditional music and so on.

Following the release of a few demos and the Wild Rags’ 7” Ep Requiem For Fools in the early 90s the band caught the attention of Mayhem’s guitarist Euronymous who signed the band to his Deathlike Silence Productions for the release of their debut Scorn Defeat. Before the release of the album Euronymous was murdered by fellow band member Varg Vikernes (aka Count Grishnackh) over turmoil in the Inner Circle on the Norwegian black metal scene. The album eventually surfaced on Voices of Wonder in 1993.

The band signed with England’s Cacophonous Records in 1995 and over the next few years released five stellar recordings, most notably 1997’s brilliant Hail Horror Hail, chosen as one of the most important 100 heavy metal albums of the nineties in Terrorizer Magazine.

As SIGH headed into the new millennium they signed to Century Media Records and released 2001’s Imaginary Sonicscape to worldwide praise, thanks in part to the dynamic meshing of black metal, thrashing riffs and a monster psychedelic atmosphere.

In 2005 the band released Gallows Gallery (Baphomet/Season of Mist Records), a spirited and sonically unique barrage of mesmerizing melodies and creative passages.

Now SIGH are set to release of their seventh album titled Hangman's Hymn (on THE END RECORDS worldwide), an album that leader Mirai Kawashima describes as “thrash-metal-meets-German-symphonies! Fast, heavy, bombastic and majestic!’

"This is by far the best SIGH album we have done - from the production to the songwriting. We're proud of the results. We hope our fans embrace what we have done with our music this time around as their support has always been great for SIGH."
