With the music industry being what it is today, and technology moving as quickly as it is, there has never been a better time for independent musicians to make their mark. The Internet allows artists to give people all over the world access to their music and achieve promotional goals that were previously only capable with the enormous budget of a large record label.
It was with this attitude in mind that Tarnius began in 2004. Frustrated with having to forfeit their profits or change their sounds in order to be heard, a small group of artists decided to create an alternative to major labels and promotion companies. Originally started as a means to market, publish, and distribute music, the company that would evolve into Tarnius Music Inc. set out to find the most cost-effective ways for artists to be heard on a small budget. What they found was that, even when selling a good amount of albums, it was hard for artists to make money. After replication, promotion, studio costs, and distribution costs, there’s no money left for the artists! That’s, of course, assuming you can even get people to listen in the first place. Even alternatives like CDBaby charge too much and you can be lost in a sea of other artists.
It was at this point that the new face of Tarnius Music took shape. We were determined to find a new way for artists to sell their music. So here we are today, bringing fans and artists together and keeping the control in the hands of the artists!
