Tarnius has all of the best features of your favorite online music sources, but we cater to the independent artist. You aren’t forced to compete with top 40 artists and huge marketing budgets to get your music heard. You get your own dedicated page (tarniusmusic.com/yournamehere) that includes sound clips, reviews, links to your webpage(s), bio, and even details about your upcoming shows. On your page you can sell your CDs, downloads, apparel, and accessories. That’s in addition to being included in our searchable database of music and recommended to fans of similar artists. You can even make a top ten list or become a featured artist on our homepage.
You don’t have to be exclusive to us in any way. You own all your music and can use it anywhere else as you wish. There is only a small setup fee for each submission (check out our artist FAQ for pricing) and you can cancel with us anytime at no penalty. For that minimal fee, we make clips of your songs for customers to sample, upload your full songs for download (if you choose to offer downloads), upload any cover art or pictures, give you your own page, and handle your sales.
The best part about all of this is that you get to keep more money! Why should artists have to starve? Just let your fans know they can find your music here and we handle the rest. We take the credit card orders, send you an email letting you know that you made a sale, deal with all the paperwork & delivery details, and then cut you a check! We give 90% of every sale to the artist.* That means, for example, that if you sell a download for $1, you get 90 cents compared to only about 45 to 60 cents with iTunes. If you sell a CD for $10, you get $9 instead of $6 with CDBaby or even less with other retailers. You sell your music how you want it, and you keep the money!
Your CDs can look and sound however you want them, and can even be CD-R copies you made at home. They don’t even have to be wrapped. However you send them to us, that’s how we ship them out to your customers.
You are free to sell clothing and accessories here too! If your band has T-Shirts, hats, key chains, etc., you can add it all to your page. You can get your merchandise out to more people, and you still keep 90% of all sales!
* Price structure may differ if a customer purchases both CD and download together, but in such an instance the artist is still guaranteed 90% of asking price for the CD.
